The Certified Addictions Counselor Education Traning Program is designed for Human service professionals who enroll in this program receive 300 hours of classroom education/training in the knowledge, skills, abilities and competencies needed to become a certified addictions counselor in the chemical dependency counseling and prevention field. This certification is designed to improve the quality of counseling techniques resulting in more sustainable recovery for substance abusers. In addition to this initial preparation of addiction counselors, re-certification classes are also available. These educationa curricula are devloped and taught by the director, Associate Professor Brenda E. Samuels of International Graduate University, a credentialed counselor for 31 years. Assisting her in teaching the students are eleven highly qualified International Graduate University faculty.
